The village of Cabeçadas is situated on the road from Góis to Pampilhosa da Serra. The road runs at an altitude of 740m as it winds through the village, giving dramatic views to the south over the freguesia of Alvares and a long way beyond. Most of the villages have lost their local taverna, but Cabeçadas is the exception, with two tavernas, one at each end of the village: the “Alto da Serra” and “A Toca do Judeu”. These owe their survival to the road, bringing passing custom. The village community works closely with the neighbouring village of Amieiros, and together they have formed the Comissão de Melhoramentos do Povo de Amieiros e Cabeçadas. Several projects, including the Casa de Convivio (community house) have been completed. The village of Cabeçadas is at the Neolithic heart of the Góis region, with several petroglyphs (rock art) in the vicinity - Pedra Letreira being the best known, and the stones of Mestras just over the hill. |
