There are few villages in the Góis region as beautiful as Roda Cimeira. If you are going to explore the village, please park your car outside the village and continue by foot, as the roads are very narrow, with few places to turn. The village is south-facing, built on a hillside, and running down to the stream.
It is surrounded by high hills, producing a microclimate that allows orange and lemon trees to grow at an altitude of 500m. Pots of geraniums flower all year round.
A network of cobbled lanes run through the village of xisto houses, standing side-by-side but no two alike. At the centre of the village is the café and shop. As you walk through the village it shows glimpses of its past - columns, possibly from a Roman villa, have been reused in the construction of the xisto houses. Below the village is a swimming place with crystal-clear water, emerging from springs further up the valley. The freshness of the water in summer provides a contrast to the heat of the valley.
