Telhada sits against the boundary between the concelhos of Góis and Pampilhosa da Serra, and the freguesias of Alvares and Pessegueiro. The character of the village derives from the wider, more spacious distribution of the houses – a result of the more gentle landscape, and the greater diversity of the local industries. These industries included the gathering of pine-resin that was sent to Chã de Alvares for making turpentine, and the use of the local clays for the manufacture of roof tiles. A local family developed the pantile business that was in operation for over 150 years, but a fire has since destroyed everything that was left of the old installations. In the woods around Telhada, can be found many of the old terracotta bowls used for collecting the pine-resin.
The water supply for the village was provided by springs. Below the village is a small font, now overgrown, and below it a place where the villagers used to come to wash clothes.
