The road to Capelo rises steeply into the village. A few modern houses are spread out along the road, around the old village, where the xisto houses are packed together more closely.
A little white-painted church stands at the centre of the old village, dedicated to São Caetano. Above the old village stands the community wash-house with its granite scrubbing boards. Due to the its height and the position, on a little ridge of land, the village has spectacular views up and down the Ceira valley. In the hills behind the village are several old tin and tungsten mines, that used to provide employment for the villagers during the mineral boom between 1930 and 1950.
