PARQUE MUNICIPAL DE CAMPISMO DE GÓIS
The campsite in Góis is situated on top of a hill upon which was once the castle. Today there is just a little chapel beside the campsite, and a small area of attractive park, with gravel paths and benches placed around a fountain. From this site there are superb views over the town of Góis and the river Ceira, up and down the valley and over to the surrounding green hills. The campsite is securely screened from the park by a tall hedge of Leyland cypress. Inside the site has an abundance of deciduous trees, which are not only beautiful to look at, and useful for attaching washing lines to, but also provide much–needed shade in the summer months. The site comprises 3 main terraces, each with a shower and toilet block, allowing for quieter pitches away from the centre. There are electricity hook-ups throughout the site. The campsite has a café, and there are barbeque areas for communal use, and a children’s play area with swings and slide. On the top terrace of the campsite there are 3 wooden chalets that are available to rent, each one comprising a bathroom and a kitchen/living/bedroom, and each with a deck enjoying views over the town and countryside. From the campsite there is foot access straight down a cobbled path and steps to the river where, in the summer months, there is a popular café-bar and swimming beach. Crossing over the old bridge then takes you up into the historic part of the town or along the river walk to the Parque do Cerejal with its magnificent cathedral of trees and children’s play-park.
